Threshold Phenomena in Electron-Molecule Scattering

چکیده
The performance of an electron energy loss spectrometer with hemispherical energy selectors has been improved in terms of low energy capacity, resolution, response function correction at low energies, sensitivity, and extension of the angular range to 1808. The extended capacity permitted a more detailed observation of threshold peaks and near threshold structures in halogen halides, observation of near threshold structures in CO2;N2O and CS2 and the observation of selectivity in the excitation of Fermi-coupled vibrations by the 2 u shape resonance in CO2:

Comprehensive Theoretical Study on Threshold Power of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Single-Mode Fibers
We have investigated and developed a theoretical approach to explore stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) phenomena in single mode fiber. SBS happening threshold power condition has been studied in terms of fiber parameters and input pump power. To assess threshold power precisely, the pump depletion effect and fiber loss has been included by employing 1% criterion. The threshold exponential g...
متن کاملStrong-field rescattering physics—self-imaging of a molecule by its own electrons
When an atom or molecule is exposed to a short intense laser pulse, electrons that were removed at an earlier time may be driven back by the oscillating electric field of the laser to recollide with the parent ion, to incur processes like high-order harmonic generation (HHG), high-energy above-threshold ionization (HATI) and nonsequential double ionization (NSDI). Over the years, a rescattering...
متن کاملImportance of nonresonant scattering in low-energy dissociative electron attachment to molecular hydrogen.
A central premise of nearly all theories of dissociative electron attachment is that this process is resonance driven. Neglect of nonresonant scattering, although appropriate for electron-molecule systems with narrow (long-lived) resonances, is problematic for the e-H2 system, which has one of the broadest known resonances. Using the nonadiabatic phase-matrix method we have found that at energi...
متن کاملTunneling and resonant conductance in one-dimensional molecular structures
We present a theory of tunneling and resonant transitions in one-dimensional molecular systems which is based on Green s function theory of electron sub-barrier scattering off the structural units (or functional groups) of a molecular chain. We show that the many-electron effects are of paramount importance in electron transport and they are effectively treated using a formalism of subbarrier s...
متن کاملVisualizing the Optically Induced Near-fields of Nanoplasmonics with Ultrafast Transmission Electron Microscopy
Localized electric fields that are induced optically exhibit unique phenomena of fundamental importance to nanoplasmonics. In recent years, they have been considered for efficient photovoltaic and light harvesting devices, single molecule detection, biomolecular labeling and manipulation, and surface enhanced Raman scattering [1]. Several methodologies have been utilized for probing the near-fi...
